Shutterfly Wagner Kunstlerschutz Photo Site Started

Hello! In response to numerous requests, I've started an online sharing site for people to post pictures of Wagner and other vintage flocked animals. It looks like I have to send emails to people inviting them to sign up (for free)  and then they can post pictures, if I'm understanding the directions correctly. So I'll endeavor to do that in the next little while. I think if you comment here, I can obtain your email address when I click on your name.

The photo site is http://wagnerhandworkanimals.shutterfly.com/.

  3. I started collecting these little animals as a military brat in Germany in the 1970s. Whenever we went to a local attraction, they were sold by vendors. I remember taking a long time to decide which one I wanted. They bring back so many memories.

    1. I know, they do for me, too! It's amazing to think they were once just sold from carts like balloons. I'll never forget that huge cart of them I first spied at age 4 or 5 in a subway stop near the Bronx Zoo in NYC. It was like unexpectedly finding a German marketplace underground.

  4. Thank you for taking the time to describe and post pictures of the Wagner animals. I had some as a child in the early '60's and they were my favorite toys. I recently found a sweet white cow in an antiques shop for $6.00 in perfect shape and I fear I am collecting them again. I had rabbit fur covered dogs as well as a sweet grey donkey that I'm really missing. I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate your effort you sound so sweet! Well, I must go- there's a brown pony with black mane and tail neighing to me on ebay for $12.50. (You are partially responsible for this you know)
    Sincerely Yours in Kunstlershulz,
    Schatzie

    1. I am deeply sorry for aiding and abetting your addiction :D I was content with my childhood Wagners until they invented eBay and I discovered how many critters there were that I'd never seen before! They were my favorite toys (next to Britains plastic animals and some Steiff animals) as a kid, too. I remember the fur-covered dogs...still have a few. Was the donkey a fuzzy one or a Wagner one?

  5. Hi! I got a Kunstlerschutz Mouse Playhouse with several mice at a vintage shop, to give to my 5 yr old grandnieces. Have you ever seen mice or a playhouse? It is dollhouse sized and has a seesaw and other play equipment. kim@duttenhofers.com
